Hiking

We had such a fun day on Saturday. We went to the top of Cape Perpetua on a hike in the mountain, then a hike in forest to see a 500 year old tree, and ended in the tide pools. We had such a great adventure, all 30 minutes from the house!!
This is a view of the mountain from the tide pools.

The little crab Brayden found. It was dead, and tried. I actually brought this one home. I think it will make an awesome christmas ornament.

The tide pools were fun, and the sprays of the tide were a little chilling. We all got sprayed!

The view from Cape Perpetua. One of the most incredible views I have ever seen!! It is Oregons highest public paved roads at 803 feet. On a clear day you can see 150 miles of north-to-south, and 39 miles out to sea. Those are the tide pools we explored later in the day.

The binoculars were really fun. WE really wanted to see a whale. The Lintons have had no whale sightings YET, but right now the water is too warm. (or so they say)

We had lunch in Yachats in a little diner on the ocean. We tried to get to the beach, but ended up in more tide pools. We are still getting to know our way around.
We love August. It is great weather, 65-75 degrees on the coast, and all the fresh produce stands bring all of their great food. I LOVE fresh produce!! Oh yeah, BLACKBERRIES are now on. YUMMY!!!
