6 weeks already?

I cannot believe that Afton is already 6 weeks old. Time flies so fast with the third, I barely have had time to document anything!! In the past 6 weeks, life has continued on. We are at the lake every chance we can, we are out hiking, at the beach and picking blackberries. It is so hard to feel like I need to sit around and recover when this is my FAVORITE season of the year. I love it even more here. The weather is awesome, the crowds have gone, and all the produce is in season. Afton was 1 week old on her first visit to the lake, 2 weeks old at the ocean (which that is embarrassing because we live so close), and 2 weeks for her first hike in the Bjorn. We have had so much fun with our fun friends. They help me always find the joy in this crazy time of our lives.
Things have been going well, and we have enjoyed this time with baby Afton. She is a blessing in our home and we are so glad she is here. We can't wait to get to know more about her.

On Labor Day weekend we always make it a tradition to go camping, but seriously.. I was not camping with a newborn. Instead we stayed at a cabin on the lake. It was fun for our family to fish until sundown, have a camp fire, and enjoy the time together. The boys love little outings like this and Justin was ready for a little get away. I was ready for one too!
Recently I have been so FED up with two companies and here is why:
1. Regence Blue Cross Blue shield of Oregon: We have been members for 2 years with the plans to have a baby. All of a sudden I get a letter in the mail indicating that they will no longer carry my insurance and that I have to change to this other plan that is the MOST comparable to the one I already had. The became effective JULY 1. Seriously, I had Afton August 3. What can I do? I can't change insurance companies when I am so close to delivery, and they assured me that everything would be okay... WRONG. Afton ended up costing a lot more than expected, my premiums went up and they are not willing to work with me AT ALL. I am still fighting some charges, and have already planned to switch companies. Let everyone know, the fine print in this company is RIDICULOUS! It has brought me to tears... I think the hormone changes also have something to do with it.
2. Wells Fargo: We have student loans with Wells Fargo, and some of them are at higher interest rate than others. We obviously want to pay the ones with the Higher interest rate off sooner. They are painful to work with. If we pay extra, they automatically put it towards the lower interest rate, even if specified. Then, when we tried to break up the loans so we can pay them separate, they cannot get it right. The worst part is staying on the line for hours. Oh, and the part that I hate most. Only Justin can change things... I can't, and then they are closed when he is home. AAAHHH!!! No wonder it takes people forever to pay these things off.

Apparently we have parallel lives because our BCBS didn't cover Grant's newborn hearing screening ($550) and wouldn't budge (we have yet to receive a bill for it though).

Our loans are with Citibank and while they aren't anywhere near as bad as yours (my wait time is usually less than 2 minutes and I can put payments to specific loans over the phone) they have double drafted our payments for the past two months! We can afford it but it sucks because that extra payment gets applied across all the loans instead of a specific one. Can't wait to get them out of our life. 49% to go!

Little Afton is sooo adorable! How fun to have two boys and a little girly girl. I love it! Way to keep up the fun but try to get some rest ... yikes!

Life looks like so much fun out there! Except for the medical and loans of course, that really stinks. I'm pretty lucky because a lot of time people believe I'm Layne and I get to take care of things. (It has a "y" it must be a girls name, right?) Can you email customer service from his email? When I worked for a clothing company they always answered emails promptly and took plenty of time with calls. I was the lucky one dealing with angry folks on the phone - wahoo! I seriously can't believe how much Afton has done in the last 6 weeks, sounds like she gets out more than I do. :) You are such a fun mom. We miss you out here but can't blame you for moving away to such a beautiful place. I would say "have fun" but I don't think you need a reminder. ;)

i hear ya sister. i hate when i wait on hold for student loan madness and then they tell me they can't tell me ANYTHING or do ANYTHING unless they are talking to joey. oh man. hey, here's a happy note for you - be so glad that you sold your house before you left maryland. ours has done nothing but lose value. just think about that when you are spending unplanned money on health stuff. at least you sold your house. :-) i love your little afton. you guys are cool.
