SUPRISE

Suprise to our husbands!!! All of the wives banned together to make a Suprise party for our incredible husbands who have done amazing things. It was fun to suprise Justin. He had no idea and actually thought I was crazy that night. It was hard to come up with a reason why we needed to go to the other ward building which is half an hour away. I ended up telling him that we are going out to dinner and I wanted to try a place that his sister had recommended. I explained that it was up by their church. After a few wrong turns and landing in the parking lot, Justin was completely suprised.
As part of the suprise each family presented something to our husbands. This is what we did for Justin:
Justin is one to always keep dreaming. I love his outlook and drive for life. May you never lose your visions and dreams.

From the time Justin was small he wanted to be a Dr. like his dad. As he grew up his dream shifted slightly to become a Tooth Dr. As we are coming to the end of dental school, I know Justin will be a great dentist. He just needs one thing…. NEW MATERIAL… (give him the laffy taffy and joke book). All great dentists have good jokes right?

Another dream he has always had is to build a mini castle in a place like the shire. We will see about the castle, but I think he has found a beautiful place in Oregon that is just like the shire. For many of you who may not know what the shire is-
The Shire is a region of J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional Middle-earth, described in The Lord of the Rings and other works. The Shire refers to an area settled exclusively by Hobbits and largely removed from the goings-on in the rest of Middle-earth. It is located in the northwest of the continent, in the large region of Eriador and the Kingdom of Arnor.
(give him the book of Oregon)

I think that Justin has always wanted to live among the hobbits, maybe so he can feel taller or maybe because our itty bitty family reminds him of hobbits. The more I have come to know about hobbits the more I recognize how much we have in common. Although we are not halflings, I doubt we will have any basketball players for kids.
In the Prologue to The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote that they dress in bright colours, favouring yellow and green. (see exibit from Justins closet) Nowadays (according to Tolkien's fiction), they are very shy creatures, but they are and have been capable of amazing things. They are adept with slings and throwing stones. (just ask brayden)
Hobbits can sometimes live for up to 130 years, although their average life expectancy is 100 years. The time at which a young Hobbit "comes of age" is 33. Thus a fifty-year-old Hobbit would only be entering middle age.
Justin is currently “coming of age” as we graduate from Dental School, and his next dream is to retire when he is entering middle age. We are excited to live in the Shire on our next adventure.
Just as the hobbits are capable of amazing things, so are you Justin. I have been impressed with all the things that you have done thus far. Always remember one of your favorite quotes from Lord of the Rings: “That is not for you to decide, all we have to decide is what we are to do with the time that is given to us.” I think we have made the best of our time here in Maryland, and I look forward to what we are going to do with our time in Oregon.
I know we couldn’t have dreamed that our time in dental school would be this great. Yes, school was hard at times but it was with the love and support of so many friends and loved ones that made this dream come true. We both have felt so fortunate to have come in contact with each and every one of the families we have come in contact with and we appreciate your love and support.
Justin it has been incredible to watch your determination and enjoyment for the dental profession. You have always come home happy to share what you are learning and your experiences. From the gruling biochem, the stinky anatomy, and the funny patient stories. I have appreciated your happiness and hardwork. You have always put the Lord and your family first. You are such a great example to me. Thank you for your love and devotion. We are always behind you and your biggest fans!

What a great idea! It was fun hearing about Justin's dream. Let me know when the castle is built and we'll come visit. I love fairy tales and Cinderella is my favorite. I think I belong in a castle, too.
